The Government has approved the establishment of ‘’Leather Industry Training Institute’ at Kolhapur through the association of LIDCOM & CFTI, Agra. The work of making Construction map of the building has been completed & the same has been sent to Kolhapur Municipal Corporation for technical approval.
The Mega Leather Footwear & Accessories Cluster (MLFAC) under the Indian Footwear & Accessories Development Program (IFLADP) of Central Govt. has been launched in Maharashtra. The proposal for 151 Acres of Land acquisition at Ratwad (Mangaon Taluka in Raigad District) has been submitted to Central Govt. and approved through MIDC.
Under the scheme of providing ‘Gattai Stall’ to Gattai workers , 25127 beneficiaries have been allotted Gattai stalls from 2007-08 to 2018-19. For the year 2022-23 , a budgetary provision of Rs. 7 Cr has been made & the target of distribution of stalls to 1750 beneficiaries has been set.
The Corporation has received GIR (Geographical Indication Registration) certificate for Kolhapuri Chappal. 4 each districts from Maharashtra (Kolhapur, Solapur, Satara & Sangli) & Karnataka (Belgaum, Dharwad, Bagalkot & Bijapur) have been included in Geographical Indication.
The corporation is planning to build ‘Head Office and Central Paduka Training Institute ’ at Deonar , Mumbai. Since 17th Nov. 1988 a 2 acres of land at Deonar is in possession of the Corporation & ground rent and property tax of the said plot has been paid by the corporation till date.
