About us
- For many years, there has been a demand from public representatives and various organizations to establish a separate corporation for the social and economic development of the Holar community. According to the 2011 census, the total population of the Holar community among the Scheduled Castes in Maharashtra is 1,08,908. This population constitutes 0.82 percent of the Scheduled Caste population in Maharashtra.
- The government was considering establishing Holar Samaj Economic Development Corporation (Subsidiary) as a subsidiary under Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Leathercraft Development Corporation (SVC) to provide benefits of various schemes implemented under Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Leathercraft Development Corporation (SLC) for the Holar community belonging to the Scheduled Caste category and residing mainly in the districts of Western Maharashtra in the state (Seed Capital Scheme, Direct Loan Scheme, Individual Loan Interest Refund Scheme, Group Loan Interest Refund Scheme, Educational Loan Interest Refund Scheme, Skill Development Training Scheme, Women Self-Employment Interest Refund Scheme) and to strive for the all-round development and economic upliftment of the Holar community.
Government Decision
Promote & boost the Leather Industry and people engaged in Leather Industry of the Maharashtra State, Government of Maharashtra has established a company under the Company Act, 1956. The Corporation’s objectives are broadly divided into Commercial and Social activities.
- The Government is approving the establishment of a subsidiary company under Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Leather Industries Development Corporation for the social and economic development of Holar community, which is included in the currently functioning Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Leather Industries Development Corporation, for the social and economic development of the Scheduled Caste category in the state. The said subsidiary company will be called "Holar Community Economic Development Corporation (Subsidiary Company of Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Leather Industries Development Corporation)". The operations of the said subsidiary company will be carried out by Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Leather Industries Development Corporation.
Subsidiary Structure (State/District Level)
Our Corporation has four production centres in Maharashtra State located at Amaravati (Daryapur), Hingoli, Kolhapur and Satara. We have strength to manufacture Two Lakhs Shoes Pairs. We produce various leather products like Computer Bags, Briefcases, Purses, Shoes, Scandals, Belts, Hand Gloves. We have six Shops situated at Mumbai, New Mumbai, Dhule, Jalgaon, Solapur and Nanded.
- The headquarters of the subsidiary will be at the headquarters of Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Leatherworkers Development Corporation in Mumbai.
- The board of directors of the corporation will consist of three non-official members including the chairman and vice-chairman and three official members:-

Functions of the subsidiary
Promote & boost the Leather Industry and people engaged in Leather Industry of the Maharashtra State, Government of Maharashtra has established a company under the Company Act, 1956. The Corporation’s objectives are broadly divided into Commercial and Social activities.
- To work for the welfare and development of the Holar community in the state.
- To provide loans to the individuals of the Holar community for self-employment at low interest rates and to recover the same
- To provide credit facilities, equipment and technical and managerial tools to improve the economic condition of the Holar community.
- To provide such services as may be necessary for the manufacture, assembly and supply of products, goods, materials and supplies for the Holar community.
- To initiate and implement schemes for the welfare of the Holar community in the state and to prepare reports for the schemes.
Important points

- As per this government decision, the proceedings regarding the establishment of Holar Samaj Economic Development Corporation (subsidiary) will be taken through Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Leathercraft Development Corporation as per the prevailing laws and rules.
- All the schemes currently being implemented for the leather workers category through Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Leathercraft Development Corporation will be implemented separately for Holar Samaj.
- For the financial year 2024-25, the necessary provision will be approved from the share capital account head (4225-0042) of Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Leathercraft Development Corporation for the Holar Samaj Economic Development Corporation. The department will take separate action regarding the creation of necessary posts (drawings) and financial provision for the subsidiary. Also, the duties and criteria for the approved posts in the subsidiary will remain applicable as per the duties and criteria of the post in the establishment of the main company.
- The headquarters of Holar Samaj Economic Development Corporation will remain in Mumbai under the headquarters of the present Sant Rohidas Chamdyog and Charmkar Vikas Mahamandal.
- For district level work, the work of the subsidiary will be carried out by the approved officers/employees of the district office of Sant Rohidas Chamdyog and Charmkar Vikas Mahamandal.
- The present Managing Director of Sant Rohidas Chamdyog and Charmkar Vikas Mahamandal will act as the present Managing Director of this subsidiary.
- The registered office of Holar Samaj Economic Development Corporation (Subsidiary) will remain in Mumbai.

Our Commercial activities
To arrange procurement and supply of raw material for those engaged in the Leather Industries or to make necessary arrangement for production of Leather Goods. To ensure quality control in order to get qualitative product.
Our Social activities
To procure capital or financial assistance and to sanction loans, subsidies and Resources, machinery, equipment for promoting leather and leather based industries and other industries of Scheduled Caste Charmakar Community.
