On the behalf of the Government of Maharashtra , an international market has been made available to the new entrepreneurs of the Charmakar community & Leather industry in the state. Kolhapuri chappal & other leather products from Maharashtra have been placed for demand registration at the 124th MIPEL exhibition, Milan, Italy.
On the occasion of Golden Jubilee Year of Sant Rohidas charmodyog & Charmakar Development Corporation, the corporation participated in 124th MIPEL exhibition at Milan, Italy under the leadership of Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde & under the guidance of Social Justice Department Secretary Sumant Bhange sir during the period 17 to 20 September. On behalf of the state, new entrepreneurs of the Charmakar community in the leather industry have been given the opportunity to participate in this exhibition for the first time.
It is found that the Kolhapuri chappals manufactured by the Corporation are in good demand at the exhibition. Along with this ladies bags manufactured by workers from Dharavi in Mumbai are also in good demand. Recently due to the efforts of the Corporation GI tag for the Kolhapuri chappal has been obtained which will definitely boost the export of Kolhaputi chappals in the international market.
A separate stall of the Corporation has been set up at the exhibition & LIDCOM’s Managing Director Mr. Dhammajyoti Gajabhiye sir has visited this stall. During the visit, Gajabhiye sir has emphasised on improving marketing and distribution of the kolhapuri chappal to increase its sales. After visiting all the stalls of leather goods and footwear at the exhibition, MD sir has given instructions to the concerned authority to manufacture the same international leather products at the manufacturing facilities of Corporation.
